Top 10 Pikachu Pokémon Cards to Collect

Explore 10 Pikachu Pokémon cards with artwork, exact sets and card numbers, collecting tips and UK eBay searches. Build a collection around designs you love.

Collector guide · Reviewed 21 October 2026 · By TCGInvest editorial

Pikachu collecting can become very broad: everyday set cards, unusual poses, Trainer scenes and promotional designs all compete for attention. This guide narrows the task to ten identifiable English printings. The mix gives room to nostalgia and personality as well as dramatic showcase cards, with an exact set and collector number for every entry.

How we chose these cards

This is an editorial shortlist ranked for artwork, variety across card designs and usefulness in a themed collection. It is not a price, rarity, popularity-vote or expected-return ranking. We focus on established English printings from several eras, rather than promising a complete catalogue or every recent release. Edition and foil variants are not separate places unless explicitly identified. The pictured finish is a reference: confirm the finish offered by the seller.

Start with a comparison: Open Card Finder to look for the printing and inspect any available dated references. Coverage varies, so a missing card or price is not a zero valuation. See how our sources work.

1. Pikachu — Cosmic Eclipse

Pikachu, Cosmic Eclipse, 241/236, English card artwork

Exact printing: Pikachu · Cosmic Eclipse · 241/236 · English.

Cosmic Eclipse pairs Pikachu with Red in a character-focused illustration. It makes a strong choice for collectors who want a Trainer relationship rather than a standalone mascot portrait. Number 241 identifies this version; the regular Pikachu in the same set is a different card.

2. Pikachu ex — Surging Sparks

Pikachu ex, Surging Sparks, 238/191, English card artwork

Exact printing: Pikachu ex · Surging Sparks · 238/191 · English.

The Surging Sparks special illustration gives Pikachu ex a Terastal-era identity with a detailed full-card scene. It is a contrasting modern centrepiece beside older yellow-bordered cards. Match number 238, since the expansion contains several Pikachu ex treatments with very different appearances.

3. Pikachu — Base

Pikachu, Base, 58/102, English card artwork

Exact printing: Pikachu · Base · 58/102 · English.

Base Set Pikachu is an accessible-looking design anchor, but familiar artwork can hide important printing differences. Edition, cheek colour and the exact release require attention. Buy the variant actually shown in the photographs rather than assuming that every Base Set Pikachu is the same.

4. Pikachu VMAX — Vivid Voltage

Pikachu VMAX, Vivid Voltage, 188/185, English card artwork

Exact printing: Pikachu VMAX · Vivid Voltage · 188/185 · English.

The rainbow Pikachu VMAX makes the Gigantamax silhouette the main attraction. It suits a page organised around large-form Pokémon and unusual finishes. Number 188 distinguishes it from the regular VMAX, and angled photographs help show whether the surface has marks.

5. Pikachu — 151

Pikachu, 151, 173/165, English card artwork

Exact printing: Pikachu · 151 · 173/165 · English.

The 151 illustration places Pikachu in a wider everyday setting. It is a good fit for collectors who enjoy environmental artwork instead of battle poses. The illustration rare is number 173; the standard Pikachu in the expansion has a different collector number.

6. Pikachu — Legendary Treasures

Pikachu, Legendary Treasures, RC7, English card artwork

Exact printing: Pikachu · Legendary Treasures · RC7 · English.

Legendary Treasures' Radiant Collection Pikachu brings a softer visual tone to the list. It pairs well with other character-led cards from the same subset. Include the RC prefix in searches and verify the finish rather than comparing it with the set's main numbered cards.

7. Pikachu — Jungle

Pikachu, Jungle, 60/64, English card artwork

Exact printing: Pikachu · Jungle · 60/64 · English.

Jungle Pikachu gives the collection a second early illustration with a different pose from Base Set. It works well if your goal is to compare the mascot’s first English set appearances. Match Jungle and number 60, and check the edition stamp before comparing actual copies.

8. Pikachu ★ — Holon Phantoms

Pikachu ★, Holon Phantoms, 104/110, English card artwork

Exact printing: Pikachu ★ · Holon Phantoms · 104/110 · English.

The star-marked Pikachu from Holon Phantoms offers an older shiny-Pokémon collecting direction. It is a very different target from a modern full art. Ask for detailed front and back photographs and compare the exact printing, rather than relying on the word rare in a title.

9. Pikachu — Crown Zenith

Pikachu, Crown Zenith, 160/159, English card artwork

Exact printing: Pikachu · Crown Zenith · 160/159 · English.

Crown Zenith's secret-numbered Pikachu uses a celebratory composition with several Pokémon. It works as a lively binder-page focal point. Search for number 160 and check the artwork, since a listing for a Crown Zenith Pikachu product does not necessarily include this single.

10. Surfing Pikachu — Evolutions

Surfing Pikachu, Evolutions, 111/108, English card artwork

Exact printing: Surfing Pikachu · Evolutions · 111/108 · English.

Surfing Pikachu from Evolutions is a playful change from the more dramatic entries. It is a natural pick for collectors building a small novelty-Pikachu section. The familiar surfing idea appears on other cards too, so identify this printing by its set and number.

Build a Pikachu collection with a clear goal

Choose one lane first: vintage mascot cards, scenes with Trainers, promotional artwork or novelty poses. A small themed page is easier to plan than an unrestricted Pikachu checklist, especially when closely related promos and language variants appear in search results.

Use the tools before you choose a listing

Identify and compare: Card Finder helps you look for exact cards and available observations. Check the date and source market before treating a reference as a UK transaction price.

Review a graded card: PSA Lookup is a useful next step when checking a PSA-labelled listing. Match the label, certificate and card photographs; a certificate number by itself does not establish the condition or authenticity of the item offered.

Consider grading carefully: Read our UK grading costs and turnaround guide before submitting a card. Check the current service terms, include postage and selling costs, and allow for uncertain grades. A raw-to-PSA-10 price difference is not expected profit.

Explore the set: Browse chase cards when you want context for other cards in an expansion. If you are comparing sealed products as well, use the Booster Box Tracker and ETB Tracker. A set reference is not the price of this single card. For a sealed purchase you already track, use the ROI Calculator to compare its recorded performance with your purchase cost; it is a sealed-product tool, not a card-grading forecast.

Keep track: Where a card is covered, open its detail page to use the available collection or watchlist controls. See price-alert options for supported products; coverage, account requirements and plan limits apply. An article link does not mean every card here has an alert.

How to compare eBay listings

Start with the exact name, set, number and English language shown above. Our links use the card name, set and collector number, with English selected through eBay’s language filter. Promotional cards use their specific promo number rather than a long set label. Search results can still include the wrong printing, bundles or altered cards. They are starting points, not a seller recommendation or an authentication service.

For vintage cards, compare the edition stamp and any relevant printing differences. For all cards, ask for clear front, back, corner and surface photographs. A scan of the ideal card does not establish the condition of the copy for sale. Holo, reverse-holo, stamped and non-holo variants may share a number.

Compare the total delivered cost, including postage and any import charges. Raw and graded copies belong in separate comparisons, as do different grading companies and grades. Asking prices are not completed-sale evidence. Read the seller’s description, feedback and return terms before committing.

Questions about collecting Pikachu cards

Which Pikachu card should I buy first?

Choose one artwork you would enjoy owning, then set a delivered-cost limit. The first-ranked card is an editorial display pick, not a requirement or a promise that it is affordable. A simpler set card can make a better first purchase if you prefer its artwork or condition.

Are these the most expensive Pikachu cards?

No. The order reflects this guide’s collecting criteria. It does not use a live price table, auction record, print-run estimate or measured popularity score. A card outside this list can be a better fit for your theme.

Should I buy a single card or open packs?

A correctly identified single lets you choose the specific card and condition offered. Opening packs has an uncertain outcome and does not guarantee any card on this list. Compare the experience you want with the money you are prepared to spend.

Do the eBay links show the exact card?

They search for the card name, set and number, with English selected through eBay’s language filter, but eBay can return imperfect matches. Verify the listing photographs, language, finish and condition yourself. We do not claim current stock, a particular seller or a fixed price.

Sources and artwork

Card names, set identities, numbers and reference artwork were checked against the Pokémon TCG data catalogue, an independent community-maintained dataset. Images are served from copies checked against TCGdex’s English card catalogue or Pokémon’s official card artwork. You can also consult the official Pokémon card database and its search guide. Older releases and variants may need separate references. Card artwork is © Pokémon / Nintendo / Creatures / GAME FREAK; displayed to identify and discuss the cards, without implying endorsement. Rankings and collecting commentary are TCGInvest editorial choices.
