Sources and methodology

Prices and observation dates

Sealed ETB and RAW promo references currently use TCGPlayer US market data through TCGCSV, converted to GBP. They are not UK completed-sale prices. Other tools and stored historical reports can use different sources; use the source and observation date beside each value. Converted display currencies are estimates.

Sealed and RAW ETB checks run daily; stored graded references are checked weekly. Scout price eligibility is weekly and population eligibility monthly. A scheduled or successful check does not guarantee a fresh observation for every record. Stored scores have their own source dates.

Market references versus listings

Live eBay asks describe available listings at the time checked, not completed sales. Compare the exact edition, language, finish, grade, condition and delivery. Unknown postage is not zero postage. A discounted listing against a converted US reference does not establish a discount against UK sold prices.

Premiums and grading

Sealed premium is (reference price − product-specific original retail price) ÷ original retail price × 100. A 500% premium is six times retail. Graded-to-RAW ratios compare dated observations; they do not include grading probabilities, fees, selling costs, postage or the sealed value given up. They are not expected-profit forecasts.

Articles and review

Historical articles describe their observation periods. Publication, editorial update and underlying price observation are different dates. We retain useful historical URLs and correct unsupported claims rather than treating every short article as disposable. Official product descriptions take precedence for contents; prices alone do not establish demand, scarcity or an explanation for a move.

Affiliate links

As an eBay Partner, TCGInvest may earn commission from qualifying purchases. Affiliate clicks, attributed sales, approved commission and received payouts are separate measures. We do not claim that clicking a link guarantees commission or that a listing guarantees value.
