Top 10 Mew Pokémon Cards to Collect

Collector guide · Reviewed 21 October 2026 · By TCGInvest editorial

Mew cards often use a small central character inside a much larger visual world. That makes scenic artwork, decorative subsets and unusual colour treatments particularly appealing collecting directions. This selection mixes those approaches with older framed holos and full-art portraits, so you can build around the look you enjoy rather than a changing price ranking.

How we chose these cards

This is an editorial shortlist ranked for artwork, variety across card designs and usefulness in a themed collection. It is not a price, rarity, popularity-vote or expected-return ranking. We focus on established English printings from several eras, rather than promising a complete catalogue or every recent release. Edition and foil variants are not separate places unless explicitly identified. The pictured finish is a reference: confirm the finish offered by the seller.

Start with a comparison: Open Card Finder to look for the printing and inspect any available dated references. Coverage varies, so a missing card or price is not a zero valuation. See how our sources work.

The shortlist at a glance

1. Mew ex — Paldean Fates

Exact printing: Mew ex · Paldean Fates · 232/91 · English.

Paldean Fates gives shiny Mew ex a broad, character-filled illustration. It is a fitting centrepiece if you prefer a small Pokémon occupying a larger world. Number 232 is the target; other Mew ex cards with the same game text have different artwork and numbering.

2. Mew ★ δ — Dragon Frontiers

Exact printing: Mew ★ δ · Dragon Frontiers · 101/101 · English.

Dragon Frontiers' star-marked Mew combines a shiny colour treatment with the Delta Species era. It offers a very different chapter from modern Mew ex designs. Keep the exact set and number in comparisons and ask for close-ups of both surfaces on higher-value listings.

3. Shining Mew — Shining Legends

Exact printing: Shining Mew · Shining Legends · 40/73 · English.

Shining Mew uses the Shining Legends style to give the Pokémon a compact, distinctive showcase. It pairs naturally with Shining Rayquaza or other shiny-themed cards. Check the actual finish in photographs and avoid treating the word shining as sufficient identification on its own.

4. Mew V — Fusion Strike

Exact printing: Mew V · Fusion Strike · 251/264 · English.

Fusion Strike's illustrated Mew V has a lively ensemble feel that rewards a closer look. It suits collectors who prefer a full scene to a cropped portrait. Number 251 distinguishes it from the regular and other full-art Mew V cards in the same set.

5. Mew VMAX — Fusion Strike

Exact printing: Mew VMAX · Fusion Strike · 269/264 · English.

Mew VMAX offers a larger-form counterpart within the same expansion, making it useful for a paired display with Mew V. The illustrated treatment is the reason for its inclusion here. Match number 269; the rainbow Mew VMAX has a different collector number.

6. Mew-EX — Legendary Treasures

Exact printing: Mew-EX · Legendary Treasures · RC24 · English.

Legendary Treasures' Radiant Collection Mew-EX brings a softer decorative style to the page. It is a good option for a binder grouped by subset aesthetics. Include RC24 in your search and confirm the pictured English printing rather than a similarly named card from another release.

7. Mew — Expedition Base Set

Exact printing: Mew · Expedition Base Set · 19/165 · English.

Expedition's holo Mew combines an early species portrayal with the unmistakable e-Reader frame. It is a strong visual contrast to modern full arts. Match number 19 and the finish, since the set also includes a separately numbered Mew with related collecting context.

8. Mew ex — Holon Phantoms

Exact printing: Mew ex · Holon Phantoms · 100/110 · English.

Holon Phantoms Mew ex adds the silver-bordered lowercase ex design to the collection. It works as an era marker beside the star-marked Mew from Dragon Frontiers. Confirm the exact title, set and number; a listing saying only Mew ex can refer to many different cards.

9. Mew-EX — Dragons Exalted

Exact printing: Mew-EX · Dragons Exalted · 120/124 · English.

Dragons Exalted's full-art Mew-EX offers a bold portrait-focused entry. It is useful if you want a collection that shows the move from framed holos to full-card layouts. Number 120 identifies this version, while the same expansion also contains a regular Mew-EX.

10. Mew ex — 151

Exact printing: Mew ex · 151 · 193/165 · English.

The full-art Mew ex from 151 gives the page a clean modern portrait and a connection to the Kanto-themed expansion. It is deliberately a different choice from a busy illustration rare. Match number 193; the gold Mew ex and regular Mew ex are separate targets.

Build a Mew collection with a clear goal

An artwork-led Mew page can pair a shiny treatment, a quiet portrait and a busy group scene. Keep ex and EX suffixes in your notes: those small differences help distinguish several unrelated cards that otherwise share almost the same search title.

Use the tools before you choose a listing

Identify and compare: Card Finder helps you look for exact cards and available observations. Check the date and source market before treating a reference as a UK transaction price.

Review a graded card: PSA Lookup is a useful next step when checking a PSA-labelled listing. Match the label, certificate and card photographs; a certificate number by itself does not establish the condition or authenticity of the item offered.

Consider grading carefully: Read our UK grading costs and turnaround guide before submitting a card. Check the current service terms, include postage and selling costs, and allow for uncertain grades. A raw-to-PSA-10 price difference is not expected profit.

Explore the set: Browse chase cards when you want context for other cards in an expansion. If you are comparing sealed products as well, use the Booster Box Tracker and ETB Tracker. A set reference is not the price of this single card. For a sealed purchase you already track, use the ROI Calculator to compare its recorded performance with your purchase cost; it is a sealed-product tool, not a card-grading forecast.

Keep track: Where a card is covered, open its detail page to use the available collection or watchlist controls. See price-alert options for supported products; coverage, account requirements and plan limits apply. An article link does not mean every card here has an alert.

How to compare eBay listings

Start with the exact name, set, number and English language shown above. Our links use the card name, set and collector number, with English selected through eBay’s language filter. Promotional cards use their specific promo number rather than a long set label. Search results can still include the wrong printing, bundles or altered cards. They are starting points, not a seller recommendation or an authentication service.

For vintage cards, compare the edition stamp and any relevant printing differences. For all cards, ask for clear front, back, corner and surface photographs. A scan of the ideal card does not establish the condition of the copy for sale. Holo, reverse-holo, stamped and non-holo variants may share a number.

Compare the total delivered cost, including postage and any import charges. Raw and graded copies belong in separate comparisons, as do different grading companies and grades. Asking prices are not completed-sale evidence. Read the seller’s description, feedback and return terms before committing.

Questions about collecting Mew cards

Which Mew card should I buy first?

Choose one artwork you would enjoy owning, then set a delivered-cost limit. The first-ranked card is an editorial display pick, not a requirement or a promise that it is affordable. A simpler set card can make a better first purchase if you prefer its artwork or condition.

Are these the most expensive Mew cards?

No. The order reflects this guide’s collecting criteria. It does not use a live price table, auction record, print-run estimate or measured popularity score. A card outside this list can be a better fit for your theme.

Should I buy a single card or open packs?

A correctly identified single lets you choose the specific card and condition offered. Opening packs has an uncertain outcome and does not guarantee any card on this list. Compare the experience you want with the money you are prepared to spend.

Do the eBay links show the exact card?

They search for the card name, set and number, with English selected through eBay’s language filter, but eBay can return imperfect matches. Verify the listing photographs, language, finish and condition yourself. We do not claim current stock, a particular seller or a fixed price.

Sources and artwork

Card names, set identities, numbers and reference artwork were checked against the Pokémon TCG data catalogue, an independent community-maintained dataset. Images are served from copies checked against TCGdex’s English card catalogue or Pokémon’s official card artwork. You can also consult the official Pokémon card database and its search guide. Older releases and variants may need separate references. Card artwork is © Pokémon / Nintendo / Creatures / GAME FREAK; displayed to identify and discuss the cards, without implying endorsement.
